Prospective Coursework Students

The application period for the August 2025 intake (Early Admission Cycle) is open from 16 May 2024 to 15 July 2024.
Apply on the Graduate Admission System at https://gradapp.nus.edu.sg/apply.

TRACK 1 (40-Unit PROGRAMME)

An applicant must have:

  • a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in mathematics or an equivalent qualification, or
  • a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in a discipline with strong training in mathematics at university level.

TRACK 2 (80-Unit PROGRAMME)

This Track 2 coursework programme is exclusively available to students enrolled in either a MSc in Mathematics (joint education) programme or a ‘3+2’ Programme from our partner universities.

An applicant must have:

  • a three-year Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or an equivalent qualification, or
  • a three-year Bachelor’s degree in a discipline with strong training in mathematics at university level.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (FOR BOTH TRACKS)

  • An applicant whose native tongue or medium of university instruction is not English must complete the TOEFL or IELTS.
  • Minimum score required:
    • TOEFL: 85
    • IELTS: 6.0 (overall score)
  • Foreign applicants are not allowed to study part-time in Singapore unless they have a valid employment pass to work in Singapore.
  • Interested applicants should sit for the required tests early, bearing in mind that the test result has to be uploaded at the point of programme registration.

  • Non Refundable and payment to be made online immediately upon submission of application through Graduate Admission System.

Scholarship

  • There is no scholarship support available for graduate coursework programmes.

This programme is designed primarily for students to pursue on full-time basis, and majority of the courses offered will be scheduled in the day. As part-time and full-time students will be reading a common set of courses, part-time students are expected to make their own arrangements to attend the day classes.

  1. Application for admission to MSc Coursework programme is done through the Graduate Admission System. Applicants are advised to browse through the user guide to better equip themselves before commencing your application.
  2. All supporting documents must be uploaded (in pdf format) by the application closing date. English translations should accompany supporting documents that are not in English. No changes are allowed once the application is submitted successfully.
  3. Applications and/or payment received after the closing dates will not be processed for that intake. Incomplete applications will also not be processed.
  4. Applicants are not required to mail us hardcopies of the supporting documents.

  • Singapore NRIC (for Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents)
  • Employment Pass (if applicable)
  • Passport information page (for International applicants)
  • University transcript
  • Degree certificate/ a letter stating your full-time student status.
  • Valid TOEFL/IELTS score
    • The minimum TOEFL score required is 85.
    • The minimum IELTS score required is 6 (overall).
    • TOEFL/ IELTS scores are valid for two (2) years from the test date and should not have expired at point of application. Expired scores will not be considered for the application.
  • Financial document e.g. bank statement / recent pay slip / original sponsor’s letter.
  • (Optional) Other documents such as reference letters and award certificates which can strongly support your application.

APPLICATION PERIODS

    Application Period: 16 May 2024 to 15 July 2024

  • Regular Admission Cycle (August AY2025 intake)

    Application Period: 1 October 2024 to 15 March 2025

 


APPLICATION OUTCOMES

  • Early Admission Round: Applicants who are not shortlisted will be automatically rolled over to the regular admission round.
  • All applicants (early and regular admission rounds) for the August AY2025 intake will receive notifications no later than 30 June 2025.
  • Further instructions will be provided only to the shortlisted applicants. Please note that the results of the application evaluation are final, and no appeals will be considered.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

The University has not engaged any external agencies to undertake graduate student recruitment on its behalf.  Candidates interested in our graduate programmes are advised to apply directly to the University and not through any agents.  Candidates who apply through agents will not have any added advantage in gaining admission.

We regret that we do not acknowledge receipt of applications, and are unable to answer queries related to the status of applications and the chances of admission. This is to ensure that all applications are processed promptly.

When should i submit my application?

You may submit your application as long as the online system is open but before the application deadline of respective term. All supporting documents must be uploaded online before the closing date and application fee paid promptly. Late payment and applications will not be processed.

When will my application be reviewed?

All applications are reviewed and considered by a committee only after the closing date. We are unable to review qualifications before the closing date, nor advise on whether you would be a suitable applicant or the chances of admission.

Must i sit for TOEFL/IELTS test?

TOEFL/IELTS ascertains a candidate’s English language proficiency and is necessary if English is not your native tongue the medium of university instruction is not completely in English. Alternatively, applicants should supply a documentary proof that the medium of instruction for their first degree was conducted 100% in English. 

What is the minimum TOEFL/IELTS score required?

A minimum TOEFL score of 85 is required for the internet-based test, while a minimum IELTS overall score of 6.0 is required.

I noticed that tuition fee from AY2022/23 onwards has increased significantly. Is there a scholarship support available that i can tap on to support my education?

While scholarship support is not available for coursework programmes, we are committed to ensuring that the courses remain accessible for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who meet the entry requirements. Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who qualify for the programmes in AY2022/23 will be eligible for a study grant of up to SGD30,000, subject to prevailing terms and conditions. 

Singapore Citizens /Singapore Permanent Residents students and NUS Alumni admitted from AY2023/2024 Intake to MSc in Mathematics by Coursework will be granted a 15% full tuition fee rebate. Please note the fee rebate will replace the Study Award for SCs and SPRs students. The rebate will be automatically applied to the tuition fees, and SCs and SPRs students, as well as NUS alumni, do not need to apply for it.
