Candidates without H2 Maths

In general, freshmen without good H2 pass (or equivalent) in Mathematics/Further Mathematics are required to read MA1301 as a bridging course as one of their regular courses.

 

Polytechnic diploma

Freshmen with polytechnic diploma and who have obtained one of the recognized certifications (see below) would be considered to have good H2 pass (or equivalent) in Mathematics/Further Mathematics and need not read MA1301.

‏Nanyang Polytechnic

  • Graduate DPP Transcript comprising the three Diploma Plus courses: Analytical Geometry, Applied Calculus and Advanced Calculus.


‎Ngee Ann Polytechnic

  • Diploma Plus Programme (Certificate in Advanced Computing Mathematics); or
  • Diploma Plus Programme in Advanced Engineering Mathematics.


Republic Polytechnic

  • Certificate in Mathematics


‎Singapore Polytechnic

  • Certificate in Engineering Mathematics (CEM); or
  • Certificate in Mathematics for Engineering (CME); or
  • Certificate in Engineering Mathematics & Science (CEMS); or
  • Diploma-plus Certificate in Mathematics for School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology (PCM); or
  • Certificate of Completion of the Advanced Mathematics Programme (AMM); or
  • Certificate of Completion of the Higher Mathematics Programme (HMM).


‏Temasek Polytechnic

  • Certificate in University Preparatory Mathematics or Certificate in University Preparatory Programme Mathematics

 

 

IB Math

Freshmen with IB Math (Higher Level) qualification would be considered to have good H2 pass (or equivalent) in Mathematics/Further Mathematics. But freshmen with IB (Standard Level) qualification are required to read MA1301.

‎Freshmen with the following IB Math qualifications would be considered to have good H2 pass (or equivalent) in Mathematics/Further Mathematics.

  • HL Mathematics
  • HL Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches


Freshmen with the following IB Math qualifications are required to read MA1301.

  • SL Mathematics
  • SL Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches
  • SL Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation
  • HL Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation


Students without H2 Math/Further Math or equivalent, including polytechnic diploma and IB holders mentioned above, who are uncertain may choose to sit for the MA1301 Proficiency Test to assess if they have adequate background. If they pass the test, they would be deemed to have a good H2 pass (or equivalent) in Mathematics/Further Mathematics. Otherwise, they would have to read MA1301, provided they satify the prerequisite.
